Back in 1985, when Julie and I first moved to California, we lived at the Fantagraphics house in Thousand Oaks. The house had a swimming pool. And a flat roof.
One day, after making several diagrams and meticulously calculating velocity and distance and what-not, Dave Olbrich determined that it was possible to leap from the roof into the swimming pool. (Okay, he didn’t calculate anything, but he did have a beer or two.)
And so it began.
I, of course, was far too wise and cautious to ever attempt such a thing!
You see, kids, this is how it’s done: Jackassery in the days before YouTube, committed for the sheer sport of it!
